IFC nabs Sundance pic 'Sleepwalk With Me'

Mike Birbiglia's comedy 'Sleepwalk With Me' opened in the Sundance Film Festival.IFC Films has acquired standup comic Mike Birbiglia's comedy "Sleepwalk Beside MeInch for The United States and many foreign areas.Pic opened only at that year's Sundance Film Fest and won the crowd award within the next category.Decently allocated indie follows your day-to-day indecisions and nocturnal perambulations of the commitment-phobic NYer, performed by Birbiglia, who in tangible existence is affected with REM sleep behavior disorder -- sleepwalking -- which triggered him to exhaust another-story motel window during tour in Walla Walla, Clean., leading to 33 stitches in the leg.Lauren Ambrose ("Wanderlust") co-stars as Birbiglia's girlfriend, instructed to endure not just his nocturnal misadventures, but his passive, noncommittal character and fewer-than-aggressive quest for a comedy career.According to his one-guy show, Birbiglia directed and authored the script with Joe Birbiglia, Seth Barrish and "This American Existence" host Ira Glass, who created with Jacob Jaffke.Variety film rater Peter Debruge known as the laffer a "warm, intelligent debut" which should "launch Birbiglia inside a large way."Video Interview: Mike Birbiglia talks 'Sleepwalk' Contact the range newsroom at news@variety.com
